DESCRIPTION:🎟️ Starting at $79\n🌐 Link\n\nSeong-Jin Cho returns for
Ravel’s joyful Concerto in G\, and Paavo Järvi leads a Brahms quartet
lovingly orchestrated by Schoenberg.\n\nAbout this Performance\nThe Wall S
treet Journal describes South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho as poised to ta
ke his place among the greats of the past “not only for his bulletproof
technique\, but also for his artistic voice [and] his sense of drama.” C
ho joins the LA Phil for Ravel’s Concerto in G\, one of the pianist’s
favorite works\, which he describes as a continuous dialog between piano a
nd orchestra.\n\nGrammy Award-winning conductor Paavo Järvi leads the LA
Phil first in Bacewicz’ Concerto for String Orchestra\, which combines a
pproachable classical melodies with more modern harmonic ideas. Järvi clo
ses the program with Brahms’ Piano Quartet arranged for orchestra. Schoe
nberg adored Brahms’ original but felt it was rarely performed well as c
hamber music\, leading him to transform the piece into an orchestral versi
on—given its world premiere by the LA Phil—that brings out Brahms’ s
hifting variations and colors.\n\nTraffic Alert: Spring Street\, Broadway\
, and Hill Street from Temple Street to 1st Street will be closed Friday\,
February 14 through Sunday\, February 16. The Walt Disney Concert Hall ga
rage will be open normal hours with access to its entrances. However\, gue
sts for this performance are encouraged to allow extra time to navigate th
e street closures and arrive early.
