 Bios\nAdam Phillips\, formerly a principal child psychotherapist at Charin
 g Cross Hospital\, London\, is a practicing psychoanalyst and a visiting p
 rofessor in the English department at the University of York. He is the au
 thor of numerous works of psychoanalysis and literary criticism\, includin
 g Missing Out\, Unforbidden Pleasures\, In Writing\, Attention Seeking\, O
 n Wanting to Change\, and On Getting Better. He is the general editor of t
 he Penguin Modern Classics Freud translations and a Fellow of the Royal So
 ciety of Literature.
